ONLINE ARTICLES AND WORKS
1. A Genealogy of My Professors and Informants
*This article was originally given as a
lecture in Spanish at the University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of
Philosophy and Letters, on June 23, 2003 and published in Spanish.
The text was revised and augmented in Paris and New York in March
and April, 2005 and it presents my favorite professors and principal
fieldwork informants over the last sixty years.
2. The End of a World
*First appeared in English in Natural
History vol. 80 (3): 32-41, 1971 under the title of "Lola"
and again in 2003. This version is longer and slightly different
from those published previously.
Poem: Memory of Kiepja
3. Angela Loij
*First published in Spanish in the Journal
de la Société des Américanistes: vol.
62: 235-36, 1975, Paris, in English several times, and slightly
modified since the last version in 2003.
4. The Moon-woman in Selk'nam Society
*This article was first published under
the title: "An Essay on several myths and rites of the Selk'nam"
in French in Objets et Mondes, tome 12, 1972, Paris, in Spanish
in Karukinka no. 6, 1973, Buenos Aires and in English in
2003. I have brought the text up to date, to December 2004, clarified
and added to the main myths, made additional comments and stylistic
changes.
5. Economy and Social Structure of the Selk'nam
Society
*This article was published in Spanish in Culturas Indígenas
de la Patagonia, Turner editions, Madrid, 171-99, 1990. The
two works of Karl Marx were consulted in Spanish, as they were the
only ones available at the time. As I translated the quotations
below into English, they may not entirely coincide to the authorized
translations of these two works. The following text has been rewritten
and details added for this edition "On Line," though essentially
it remains the same as the original published in Spanish and English
in The End of a World. The Selknam of Tierra del Fuego,
Santiago, Chile, 2003.
6. Where the Seas Clash: The land of the ancient
Haush, Tierra del Fuego
*First published in Karukinka Cuadernos
Fueguinos, nu.3-5, 1973, Buenos Aires. This version and the
notes are slightly longer than the original in Spanish and one in
English published in 2003.
Poem: Lament for the Indians of Tierra
del Fuego
